Looking for an electrician to install LED downlights in Burnham-on-Sea?
I recently completed this LED lighting upgrade for a homeowner in Burnham-on-Sea, replacing the existing ceiling lighting with a modern layout of recessed LED downlights.
This was to replace 2 central pendants with multiple downlights.
I installed 8 JCC X50 downlights (my favourite) and as always, left the customer with a couple spares.
These downlights are fire rated and dimmable The customer wanted a brighter, cleaner-looking kitchen while keeping disruption to a minimum. As with many properties, the existing lighting left darker areas across the worktops and didn't make the best use of the space.
Planning the installation
Before drilling any holes, I carefully measured the room and marked out the positions of each downlight to achieve an even spread of light across the kitchen.
The furniture, worktops and appliances were completely covered with protective sheeting before any cutting began. Dust protection takes a little extra time, but it keeps the customer's home clean and shows respect for their property.

Installing the new lighting
Once the positions had been checked, I cut each opening carefully and fed the new wiring through the ceiling.
After testing the circuits and confirming everything was safe, I installed the new LED downlights, ensuring they were evenly spaced and securely fitted.
The finished result transformed the room, producing a much brighter, modern kitchen with a far more even spread of light.
There were a couple obstacles. The main issue being I had no access above so I could not lift floorboards.
Neatly cutting out a strip of plaster board out of the ceiling was the only option. Doing this neatly is very important. The piece can go back and once decorated over, you’ll never know it was there!!
