“Fuse boxes”. You know those things with all the switches hidden away under you stairs, up high somewhere out of reach, or just not where you want them? They are what we call in the trade “consumer units”.
These are the most important part of any electrical installation as they house all the protective devices that switch off your electric whenever there is a fault in either your wiring or appliances.
Over the years they and the circuits the feed become deteriorated, faulty or fail to keep up with changing regulations and safety improvements. Sometimes leaving them dangerous should any faults occur leading to possible injury.
